The Gregor Letter is taking some time off this week. This typically occurs about once each year in the publication cycle.
This year’s trip takes me to Los Angeles and San Diego, where my high school senior, age 17, is visiting prospective colleges. With an intended concentration in either Physics or Mechanical Engineering (or some combination of the two) we’ll be touring Caltech, Occidental, USC’s Viterbi School of Engineering, the Claremont Colleges (Harvey Mudd) and also the University of San Diego’s Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering, and the Jacobs School of Engineering at UCSD. It’s going to be a very fun trip, and of course we’ll be sampling the taco scene wherever go. My 17 year old has also scored a ticket for the Utah-USC football game at the Coliseum, joined by friends who are already freshman at the school. This will give Dad some time to check out a few things around Los Angeles. For example, it appears Metro got the funding needed to continue pursuing the LA River Path Project.
To address the needs of readers, the letter usually publishes at least one if not two extra issues each year to compensate. Accordingly, a double publication will occur before the end of this year.
The letter will return on its next publication due date, 30 October.
All best regards, Gregor.
